I love the CSR and depending on where you live (I think it works better in a city environment) and your travel habits it more than pays for itself.
You’ve got a super liberal $300 travel credit, free DoorDash premium with a $5 monthly credit, free Instacart for a year, $10 monthly Go Puff credit. Plus 10x points on Lyft, 10x points on dining through the portal at prepaid restaurants (typically high end), and 5x points on travel booked through the portal. Not to mention Priority Pass (which unlike Amex includes some restaurant credits which we have gotten a ton of value from) and the GlobalEntry fee waiver every so many years.
Also the travel protections are better than almost any other card including primary rental car insurance.
Plus your points are worth up to 1.5x more and you can get even better value than that via the transfer partners. Works super well with a no fee Chase card such as the freedom unlimited where you can transfer all those points to your CSR to maximize their value.
Would be happy to send you a referral.
The 1:1 transfer sucks. One CSR point is worth 1.5 cents when booked through the portal. If you're going to book through the portal, there is only 1 1:1 transfer partner that has a value greater than 1.5 cents and that's Hyatt at 1.7 cents. Its entirely worthless "perk" to be quite honest.
Also I see a lot of people are closing cards. Sometimes you don’t have a choice bc of the high annual fees, but in general you should always try to leave an account open or downgrade to a no fee card for credit purposes. With cards like this I put something like my $0.99/month Apple Cloud storage fee on to keep them active and set them to autopay.
Well if you only has the card for 1 year vs 10 then yes… its all relative…
I downgraded my CSR to Freedom since that was the account I initially opened CSP with 12+ years ago for which I wont close but my Citi Premier that I opened 13 months ago.. getting closed
I just closed by CSR after years of being a member and signed up for the Venture X and am happy 😊.
Happy to share referral if you need one
Venture X is great! I closed my CSR and got this one. No regrets so far. Let me know if you want a referral
I just got the Venture X. The card pays for itself with the $300 credit when booking on their travel portal and you get 10k points on your card anniversary (valued at $100). I got this card solely to transfer to international airlines. I have the CSP which I use for hotels.
Just use Venture X and a Marriott hotel CC
Eh, if you have higher tier status I wouldn’t agree, but agree it’s definitely not that great, probably CSP is better for everyday person
I currently have the Venture X and the CSP. Venture X is a solid choice with an amazing annual fee. CSP imo does have better transfer partners especially for me since I live in CA and southwest is the goat.
I have family abroad, so for me, transfer partners are very important in that I prefer a better than 1:1 transfer ratio for the flagship carrier. I’m in a major city so availability of flights doesn’t change much, but if you’re not near a major international airport I would look at availability of flights for the transfer partners offered per card.
