Microsoft is I highly sought-after company, and will have as many candidates for a given role as any company, don't let the lack of progress deter you from looking elsewhere to expand your career, it's purely a numbers game without some serious differentiation, and not at all an indication of any sort of failure. I'm ex-MS, and many people I've worked with said that it took years of trying to get on board, most with very direct experience with the team/role that they landed in.
