Looking for advice. I left consulting right before the pandemic and have been enjoying the WLB in corporate. That being said, I have this itch to go back to consulting as I miss the team dynamic, exciting projects and some of the travel (no idea if this is still Mon-thurs post pandemic). Hi All - I’m at a firm that has some infrequent in-house training but not enough to help me develop skills to eventually become a trial lawyer. I know cases rarely make it to trial anymore, but I’d like to develop my skills as much as possible to position myself well when they do. Does anyone have any mock trial programs they’ve participated in outside of their firms that they would recommend?

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Can anyone tell me more about the "Counsel" and "Senior Counsel" positions at law firms? I've seen many attorneys in those positions under different circumstances (some are partners wanting less work, others are associates who didn't become partners). Just wanting to know a bit more.

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

Need advice. How bad is it to go from “forensics” to Sox. Pay is going to be higher. My ideal situation would’ve been to work in investigations/payments/fraud but I’ve not gotten any interviews. Probably just taking it for higher pay and I wouldn’t mind the boring aspect of it.

Interviewed with a hiring manager at Uber last Thursday. I haven't heard from the recruiter on the next step. Is it safe to assume that I haven't passed? If proceeded, I am supposed to receive a take home assignment and am not sure if I should prepare for that.
