Need advice. How bad is it to go from “forensics” to Sox. Pay is going to be higher. My ideal situation would’ve been to work in investigations/payments/fraud but I’ve not gotten any interviews. Probably just taking it for higher pay and I wouldn’t mind the boring aspect of it.

If you want to end up in investigations/payments/fraud then how will sox help with that compared to where you are in forensics? Isn’t forensics more aligned with where you want to be? Are you not getting interviews because you might need more experience?

I do fraud investigations in IA and SOX but fraud is definitely not the main focus. We have a guy who does that and his title is loss prevention related

Is it crazy to leave my job at EY to take a lower paying position in industry? I'm a recently promoted tax manager making about 140k. I've been considering going to industry for a while, gotten a couple offers, but they're all pretty low (<$120k). Honestly, the $20k difference isn't that much, but I've also been considering taking job that pay maybe $90k and doing work on the side (my own "firm"). But it also feels strange to accept such a lower salary. Thoughts?

This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
