Rising Star
Neither, Hyatt.
Rising Star
Marriot given the quality of hotels and quantity
Hilton let it’s hotels go in many cases
Hilton’s have let me down for this reason!
Marriott
Marriott and get their Boundless Credit Card if you can book your work travel on a Personal Card - they have a great offer right now for new card owners (5 free nights w. $5k spend in 3 mo)
Hyatt’s point earning and spending have been better in my experience than Marriott. I say this with 10+ years as platinum and traveling every week with Marriott pre Starwood merger. I also have Globalist with Hyatt. Park Hyatts are usually great and their top level.
You will not have as many properties to pick from with Hyatt as you will with Marriott.
I hit top status on Marriott, Hyatt, IHG. Hyatt is the best by far, followed by IHG. Marriott points are completely useless. Have 65 nights this year and can afford 3 nights in Chicago, lmao
Rising Star
Easy. Never IHG.
Marriott
30k points gets you $100 Amazon gift cards. If you have Platinum, that will cost about 1700 dollars of stays. In cities like NY or SF, that can almost be 100 per week for you.
Agree that stay redemptions have gone downhill since the merger and restructuring.
The points are a base of 10 per dollar for Silver up to 17.5 for Titanium status. If you spend 850 for a hotel room over two weeks, that's $1700 x 17.5 points.
That's a few points shy of the 30k needed to redeem for a $100 Amazon gift card.
When I stayed in SF as Titanium, I was paying $1400 a week in the FiDi. In a year, I spent almost 50k and got 850k points. If I wanted, I could have cashed out for 2800 in gift (Amazon, Delta, etc.) cards if I didn't want to use them for stays.
Loyalty is overrated. Stay at the best hotel you can
Feels like a waste
Marriott…if you make it to platinum they offer 4pm late checkout. Not sure if Hilton does the same but it’s a great perk for personal travel.
