This type of post is the equivalent of the “I make 200k at 21 years old, am I behind” in the general bowl.
Your GMAT score is at/above average.
Your GPA is at/above average
You are URM
You work in MBB
If you did a bit of research you’ll see that HSW is a crapshoot once you hit those metrics. Then it’s more about your story/extracurriculars/LORs. We can’t tell you anything except say yes wow you have good credentials and you have a chance of getting in.
Agreed. Personally I feel you will likely get into one of the top schools but maybe not both.
I was in your shoes after 2 years of consulting and 2 years of PE and decided to retake (raised my score to 780). It felt like the PE scores were even higher than average (and I'm an ORM) and I felt like I could raise my score, so I did. That said, it made absolutely no difference - didn't get into H/S (Wharton, I know, the horror). Your call.
I think there’s pretty minimal difference between 740 and say 760. Maybe if you can get a 780 it’s worth it, but is the time required for something that probably won’t happen better spent on essays? Probably. You’re going to check the GMAT box. At this point it’s more about other factors, especially at H/S.

Only H/S or Wharton as well?
Unless you are one of those people at McK who made EM in like 2 years, H/S is a crapshoot no matter what your GMAT is.
Update to anyone following - I did retake and I got a 770! Definitely think it was worth it — I was much less stressed, which helped. Thanks to all for the feedback

Imo depends entirely on your scores. If you’ve scored 20+ points higher on an official practice test, yes. If not, no

In OP's defense, the 3.5 GPA can be a sticking point for H/S coming from the consulting bracket, although the URM status helps with that (not here to spark the debates about the merits and implementation of affirmative action policies, although for the record, I am pro-affirmative action). Being able to say that he / she is above the GMAT average when he / she is 0.2 - 0.3 below the GPA average may be quite meaningful.
It’s worth doing if you can push it up to 780 or so but minimal difference from 740-760 I’d say
Check people’s profiles at Stanford.
Do you get the sense that they admit people just because they have high GMAT? No, they pick people that have great stories.
Work with a top admission consultant. Work on your story.
That’s an anecdotal exception, not the rule. Of course if someone that spikes in one dimension and brings outstanding results with him/her, that’ll outweigh the other dimensions, whether it’s creating a company like you described, a non profit or a community organization. Same applies if you led groundbreaking academic research in biotech (you won’t need as many credentials on extracurriculars/community engagement). However, that’s not the case for the vast majority of GSB students (90+%), hence, as a rule of thumbs, one should always assume that UG and GPAs matter
