Looking for some exit advice. Currently a senior 3 at EY cyber making $120k. Have an offer at industry for a manager role at $155k, 10k signing bonus, and $40k RSUs. Would you guys take an exit for this TC, or wait it out at EY for manager.

Lol. Take it. That’s more than you’ll make at manager.

like

Take it no questions asked. Consulting is super overrated lol

like

Take it, esp if it offers better wlb. Its more than you would make when you get promoted and money isn’t everything. I’m definitely considering exiting for better wlb and will have to likely take a pay cut bc I waited too long to exit. Currently on a toxic project and am going to see how my next role pans out but if it is anything like this one, I will be pounding the pavement! Good luck!

See if you can negotiate a little more But take it

Play around with the numbers but if you never got a raise at the other firm and got a 20% bump during your promo (that’s higher than average) and a 10% raise each year (also higher than normal), even after 4 more years at EY you would still make less (this is assuming the RSU value stays flat). Paired with potential WLB, it seems like a terrific opportunity. Congrats!

Any advice?: Just finished long term W2 freelance role (since Jan) + I also have a small 1099 side project that‘ll be finishing up in 2ish wks. If we are talking >10k on 1099 (i.e. not enough to justify filing for SCorp) + <160-200k on W2 — is there any real tax advantage of opening LLC vs paying me directly outside of the “protects personal assets if ever sued”, etc? Technically I *could* open LLC quickly b4 invoicing- but dunno if worth $ to do so for such small amount of 1099 coming in?
