Rising Star
A 3500 dollar raise in 3 years, danggggg dawg. My first raise as a first year was 5000 and I got it 3 months after starting.
My gosh! That is severely underpaid indeed! I’m first year in ID in SF and I make 170k
Yeah that’s bad, especially for NY and those hours. I made $191k with a $37k bonus at 5yoe in house working like 30 hours per week. Now at 6yoe making $225k plus $57k bonus working maybe 40 hours per week depending on the week. Your mistake was even interviewing at an ID firm, let alone accepting an offer and then staying there for years.
leave. i think you already know that’s going to be the consensus. you are being SEVERELY underpaid especially for your experience level. the “raises” you’ve received are embarrassing as well. they’re trying to get the most the can out of you, and i am sure anyone else who works there, for the least amount of TC possible. i would try to switch from ID to another practice area. much better hours, more respect, + much much better pay.
How much revenue is the firm making off of you? You should get approx 1/3 of that in salary + bonus.
You need to look at your annualized hourly rate. If its low like $250 an hr, the firm isnt making a lot of money off you. This is why insurance defense is so frustrating. Its not about hours its about rate. You can work your @ss off, hit all your targets, produce great work product with happy clients, but if the carrier only pays $200 or $250 an hour for your work, you’re screwed
Came back to say thanks for your help guys. After another $3500 raise I started interviewing immediately. I now make $80k more, in office or remote is up me, and with less billable hrs required .
