Need help thinking through this…Debating leaving to a tech startup. Very early stage ($3-7M ARR), would have a big role leading strategy and Ops. It’s a cash paycut, which is a bummer but the equity would be pretty good. Just nervous about leaving before hitting the full manager role and taking a paycut in this market to bank on equity. For those of you have left, what kind of questions did you ask yourself to know it was the right time?

Does anyone think it’s out of the question to ask for a 20% pay increase without a promotion? My duties on our team are closer to Director-level and no other Senior PM is managing half of what I am, so I feel like I should be compensated fairly.

However, I’m still on the job hunt and I think stress is manifesting itself without me realizing it. Watch out for Publicis—specifically Digitas. After a few weeks there, and a couple of quiet days (client is taking their time w/comments, etc) I was told that even though I was booked for that short week, I was only going to get paid for time actually worked—the 3 daily status meetings. Yes, that’s correct. 24 hours waiting patiently for the client comments and they’re paying me for 3 hours.

So was my check mysteriously lost in the mail or does it take 6-7 days to get from one part of Brooklyn to another?! On a check that was already late

Anyone every have an issue with an agency paying you an hourly, and not being upfront about the hours prospected per day... until your last day, and then have an issue when the invoice is sent in?

I’d list the last agency that didn’t pay me but they actually closed up shortly after. Sadly the content I wrote is on their client’s site - but it’s not the client’s fault the agency didn’t pay me.
