Go find the cheapest Marriott hotel near you and stay the weekend. I plan on doing that after thanksgiving to just cement gold status for next year.
Yea for the cost of those stays, just get a platinum card and get Marriott and Hilton gold automatically
Marriott bonvoy boundless card gives you 15 elite nights credits for $95 annual fee. Sign up bonus plus free night award each year should make up for the fee.
There’s a no fee version that gives you 15 nights too from Chase (Bold)
Search your local area. Make dates flexible. Sort results by star rating. Scroll to bottom. Get a cheap rate ($67 in my city). Book!
Think I can use a corporate discount for my friend if I’m not there?

I booked the cheapest room in some random state like South Dakota. Mobile check in on the app. Didn’t go in person.
I think using points for a stay count for a night. Try using points for one night ((low tier), see if any friends are booking travel soon and book their room, and/or just book a really cheap room and use credit card points to offset (NYE? Visiting fam or vice versa)
Oh man love the idea of booking someone else’s room - don’t they need to check your ID when they check in? Can this work?
You just call and add their name to the room. I’ve booked a bunch of rooms for family members and just call in advance. Only time it’s an issue is if you are using a rewards certificate.
Find someone who is diamond and they can elevate one person per year to platinum elite.
Diamond?

use points to book 3 nights, cheapest obviously. You will still earn 3 nights stay to get to the total needed. I think this should work.
