Appreciate that youre upset and its great you want to use your skills to actually help people of affect change. The problem is ad agencies (which is where we all work on this app) are there to have clients and make money and AT BEST do pro bono work, but really just to try to win awards.
In other words, youll have trouble finding an agency with an “Australian Firefighters” client. Or a “Stop Trump from creating chaos in Iran” client. You need to focus your energy on either serving a charity, or creating a charity.
Look for ads raising funds to donate, and reach out to those companies offering to help. Ad agencies will not be going after any of this with pure motives. If you just want to help—-not maybe help but mostly win Cannes lions—-skip agencies (and asking for help here) completely.
This was a favorite, not sure how much of the work is client backed or within agencies.

Call your local political action committee and offer your services. They don’t need art directors, but they will take bodies for canvassing or calling. If you are serious about change you have to do things not in your wheelhouse and not for your book.
Check out Wethos.co
They connect nonprofits/political parties/etc with freelance teams.
Thank you!
World is not imploding. You’re overreacting.
In terms of your question, probably non profits or in-house for some movement group. Don’t fear monger.
@director - great point. Thanks
Telling us that this is not a debate thread does not mean we need to accept your opinion...
@AD1; Arrogant or Ignorant?
I don’t know where you’re based but over in the UK, there’s organisations such as Glimpse Collective that take on board volunteers from the advertising industries, and put together everyone’s skill sets to offer their services for free to good causes. Perhaps there’s something similar around you? It may not be a paying job, but it’s doing your bit if you feel like you need to!
Now this is helpful! Thank you! Looking for this in NYC.
Lancaster Stands Up - Pennsylvania progressive organizers (including get out the vote efforts) - give them $
Wisconsin Grassroots Network and Grassroots Citizens of Wisconsin have websites that could def benefit from some design help
Movement Voter Project can funnel money to canvassing and get out the vote efforts in WI, PA, MI, FL, and AZ
Money is definitely the main need, but I don’t think there’s any harm in contacting campaigns or non-profits that are working on the issues you care about, sharing your book/resume, and offering pro bono design work and expertise on things like optimizing FB ads. Or help branching out into new platforms (ex: TikTok) that otherwise they probably wouldn’t bother with.
It would be interesting to build a spreadsheet of other industry people who are interested in donating work, contact info, their areas of expertise, offerings, and typical results, then make it available to progressive organizations as a resource.
The last bit is going somewhere too, we all have an ability to contribute and see that change is made where needed leaving the world better off for the next generation.
I like that you have feelings for others! 💪
