Very firm scheduling that you “have” to stick to can help. Block of your calendar to ensure you are left alone.
The other part is reframing your thinking re:breaks. Recuperation is essential to working effectively (as you’ve seen!). Therefore, breaks are productivity!
Pro
Most ADHDers have gotten so many negative messages growing up about being "lazy" or not applying ourselves, so we overindex on being busy or productive, or self-sacrificing.
I also struggle to take breaks, but I'm trying to tell myself it's actually helping myself and my team to have me working in a sustainable way, instead of being burned out all the time.
It's an internal litany some days of "Put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others."
When I tell you I felt this in my soul. I have the exact same problem. I usually work through lunch without even realizing I have done so and I look down and suddenly its 4:00 and I haven't eaten anything and am starving. Its definitely hard when you don't have an appetite to make yourself eat.
