Do you have a work area set aside at home? I’ve found that forcing myself to work in a “designated” area has really helped my productivity. I made sure the area is by some big windows so I can open them up and not feel so trapped in.
Yes I do. Honestly this sounds super millennial of me, but when I was in the office, it was a bit easier to focus because I didn’t have my phone near me to distract me. I think I need to do what A1 said below
I’ve been feeling this way too. I write my time out on one of those timesheet notepads and since WFH, I’ve started making “must do” “try to do” mini lists of 3-5 tasks (in the side bar). For example follow up with this partner on this assignment, email opposing about this, etc. I write them in the a.m. and find after I do a few small tasks and check them off, it gets me in the groove of feeling productive and working.
Also, find what is enabling you to get distracted and eliminate it. Phone? Put it in another room and turn texts on DND but volume on in case a work call comes in. Mess around you? Try cleaning up before bed or first thing in the a.m. so you’re working in a clean space.
Wow, I didn’t even know you could turn only texts I. DND haha 🤦🏼♀️ I will absolutely do this from now on. My phone has been a HUGE distraction because I have to keep it on me now I’m case my boss calls. This wasn’t the case when I was in the office because I would deliberately place it on the opposite side of the room, on silent. But now that you told me this, this is what I will do. Thank you so much!
I’m sure this question has been asked a billion times already, but unfortunately I can’t find the posts so I figured I’d just ask myself. I’d appreciate any informative (and understanding) feedback!
What kind of distraction?
My fear of not justifying my salary and job drives me to work.
