M&A tax exit opportunities as a CPA? Second year senior. Kinda burnt out this year especially with all the benefits and raise/bonus taken away due to Covid. Just wondering what my options are.

Honestly, you're still early in your career and with a cpa could easily pivot to a compliance or even just regular accounting role. If you want to leverage your technical skills so far, tax planning industry role, IRS LB&I would both be targets.

That’s good to know! Thanks for your advice.

Hang in there it’s hard on everyone. But it will get better. Try to diversify your work experience the best you can.

Thanks. Feel like I lost a lot of motivation lately. It’s always been rewarding in the group I work in but this year it seems like we are working more hours but essentially getting paid less.

Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..

Hi May I ask what is the salary for senior consultant in Deloitte for 8 YOE

JPMorgan Chase Did a first round interview for a senior level position at JP Morgan.. hiring manager said I should receive a call back within a couple of weeks.. been over a month.. no intimation post that.. the HR in charge of hiring or scheduling haven’t replied to my emails on what comes next and haven’t scheduled anything. So should I consider this as a dead end ? Does this generally happen at JP? Feels weird that I have been ghosted after what I felt was a very good interview.. Was a good fit too.JPMorgan Chase

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

What kind of exit opportunities are there for tax senior? Looking into getting an MBA. Any thoughts?

Is this an aggressive position? Would you use final regulations effective for tax year beggining Dec 16, 2020 to support a deduction for calendar tax year 2020? Proposed regulations didn't include this exception. More details below.

Why do leaders keep comparing how “good”the new staff/seniors have it because they make more money starting out then they did and working 55 hours is better than the 70-80 hours they used to work? Instead they should compare what options they have available to them and what their goals are.

I have a real estate client who at the top of his organization chart owns is 50/50 partners in a real estate investment company. First question is it advantageous to have the top of the organization 50/50 partners own the r/e company as an s-corp? That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder. All the real estate deals are then owned by this holding company.

But nonresidential real estate at 27.5 years doesn’t make sense either as it’s not a brick and mortar building. Curious on others thoughts! TIA
