what are recruiters generally seeking in cover letters of applicants moving into a role from a different industry? I am an AD in advertising looking to move into a design role in tech, maybe even film

Titles don't matter... Just have the work to back it up. You want to be in tech, learn Sketch, Invision or Zeplin. Know how to prototype and to design a spec app.

If you want to get into film. Create some dope ass posters and develop key art concepts. Work on your typography skills and be really good at after effects and premiere.

I'd like to 'drop' from AD to a senior designer role (mainly because the company I am interested doesn't seem to even have AD roles). This is silly, but I feel like it may look negative on my part because it looks like a demotion of sorts.

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

I have been interviewing since May, but I can’t seem to find a good fit that has an insurance Plan that fits my needs. They told me there would be when I left…what is the best way to go about this?

Any recruiters looking for juniors in NYC or Portland?

My AD coworker (not currently my partner) just got hired at a new agency and wants to bring me along as his writer. I'd love to join. He told the recruiter at that agency about me and sent my book. I also have another former coworker (creative) who put in a good word for me.

Should I reach out to the recruiter, too? Or is that overkill after two recos? I don't want to be bothersome. But I do want to show interest..

This all happened on Friday, if that matters. Thanks!

Is it bad manners or just a bad idea to go back to a recruiter if they got you a job that wound up being a bad fit?
For context, I don’t think they misled me. The job changed 3 weeks after I got hired, and got stuck in a role that’s just not a good fit. Gave it 6 months of honest effort and I’m ready to start job hunting.
I saw this recruiter make a post on LinkedIn, and I liked working with them the first time, and I want to reach out. But I don’t know what they’ll think.
