Well, my manager once called me petulant. I’m a woman and a woman of color. So, you know, I’d say just being made to feel like a petulant child is a step above being told you are one. lol
In all seriousness, sometimes an honest conversation about how you’re feeling and how they’re feeling can help clear the air. Because it does seem like they might be having some frustrations on their end, too.
Work through your talking points with ChatGPT. Practice answers for their potential pushbacks. Then, ask if they have time for a coffee. Be prepared to listen as well as speak.
If that doesn’t help, agree with others in the move-on camp. I did, and I’m much happier for it.
One of the 48 Laws of Power is “never outshine the master.” You are trying something that has a high failure rate.
The best way is to be humble, fake-apologize, and ask them for advice on how to be better. Your manager will not treat you like a child anymore.

I kind of get where they’re coming from about the “lost in translation” remark. It is easy to see how it could be misconstrued if English isn’t their native language.
Post some more screenshots for us so we can get a better idea of what it is about the way they speak to you that irks you
