Question for all the Salesforce employees out there: which should I apply for? A Solutions Engineer position or a Salesforce professional services role focused on delivery? Looking to make the move but would want to know more about how the two compare in regards to total comp, WLB, career progression, exit opportunities, etc.

Chasing dollars is seldom the way to improve your life if the dollars were all you were after. Just take it as a lesson learned and continue to look for something better, but without making the pay the top priority.
I’m did the same thing chasing $$$. A true waste of time, when I had a GRAVY JOB that will NEVER come my way again. The job I excepted was a real joke management was very disrespectful and training was disgusting. For one week I had no access to the system we were training in and I was reprimanded because I wasn’t catching on. I’m a hands on person and need to be able to access and maneuver through to learn. Hopefully opportunities will open back up with my old company so that I can regain my happy place.
I get it! No training and lack of computer use to train totally put me behind!!! If I get written up, so be it! What else can I do?!!!

Chasing money isn’t inherently bad. Maybe you were underpaid at your previous job or needed it to put kids through college or save for retirement? Nothing is getting any cheaper so don’t beat yourself up! Most of us have chosen the wrong job at times, I sure have.
Keep applying for other jobs. In the meantime, save as much money as you can in case the perfect job comes along but pays a bit less. And, keep being grateful for having a good boss. I find that when things aren’t really working out, just one or two things about it to be grateful for helps me power through.

Lessons learned.
You should look for a job in a setting that you aren’t used to. Maybe changing things up with your current style of networking or searching will give you more self-sufficiency.

How much money are you really saving going downtown on the different job!! Don't let anybody try to talk you out of it!
