I had a manager like that. 4pm calls on Christmas eve. Really hated working with her. We all did
You rarely quit your job, you often quit your boss.
.. you don’t get the day after thanksgiving off?
Everybody basically took it off, but it was one of the floating holidays. It’s a Fortune 500, measure people on performance, not how much you can control them.
@EY2 There was no faking on my team, I simply didn’t care if people worked or not that day. If you’re not claiming your pto just to get a payout when you leave, that’s garbage, but otherwise, who cares. It’s like most rules, don’t abuse it and we won’t have to discuss it.
Thank you, finally a supporter!
Sounds fair to me.
Seems it’s just me. We can agree to disagree..
I’m an atheist but grew up Catholic. I always took every religious holiday I could off and refused to be available. A lot of other atheists I knew did it too, according to their religious traditions. I think I might have been pushing it with Michaelmas though!
Now that there's unlimited PTO, then everyone can book the time off so this behaviour will disappear. Under previous rules, it is a bit off for people to sneak off allegedly WFH where others booked vacation, but now makes no difference.
Its also a bit off to ask ppl to work 60, 70 or 80 hrs a week too. So if my team wants to fake a day here or there I really don't care. Keeps them happy and the firm already gets more work from us than they deserve. Buay season needs to be offset by low season and some fakeation
Festivus anyone? 😉
