Bain & Company Is it truly easier to get in a smaller MBB office?
Have heard a lot for different opinions on these. The logic is that it’s easier because there is a lot of supply in cities like NY, Chicago and SF, but the counter argument is that the offices with less supply are also way smaller and have a lot less demand.

If it makes you feel better, I also just accepted the BA role and I have 4 YOE across Accenture and Deloitte. I was told I needed 5 YOE or an MBA to come in at Associate
Thanks that’s reassuring
We don’t do SBA title anymore and you need a min of 5 YOE for ASC or an advanced degree. Comp is 100% not negotiable so don’t feel bad.
Yes - we use it internally but for immigration reasons beyond what I can even comprehend we stopped hiring with that title. The comp for an experienced professional BA is higher than a BA out of school though. This is in NA.

We don’t lowball, which doesn’t mean you will necessarily like the comp, but you can’t negotiate wrong and end up a wildly underpaid person here. I’ve been at B4 and M and it’s night and day on this stuff.
Sometimes experienced hires come in at a higher salary because of their current comp, but it reverts to the mean over 2-3 years. None of the old internal raises suck/must jump to catch up nonsense at B4.
What company or role did you do 3 YOE in?
T2 (ATK/LEK/OW)
SBA is official title but if you’ve already signed, probably hard to go for it now.
It’s not 1Y or out. It’s likely just for internal signaling and diff comp band. But expectations are higher for SBAs than BAs. If you want the toolkit, fine to start as BA
I have 2.5 YOE and just signed for the SBA role.
The SBA role has a two year up or out path, but with a possibility of a faster promo if you perform well.
That’s awesome!
