@ McKinsey people: would a referral from an analyst-level person be enough to make a dent for an experienced hire trying to lateral to Business Analyst?

I’m a college student studying data science. I’m interning at Deloitte currently is to become a data science consultant for non-profits. I don’t know if this is a role that even exists, let alone how I would start down that path. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I received a take home case study for a strategic finance position. They gave me historical statements for the last 3 years (quarterly) and asked for insights/observations and opportunities/trends. What should I be observing here? I’m used to just modeling exams but I’m not sure how to proceed here. What would be a typical salary for a junior in house counsel role (3 yoe) at a publicly traded company in a secondary market (think Austin, Tampa, Charlotte)? I’m having a really hard time finding what a reasonable range would be. Most positions I’m applying to require desired salary in the application, and the truth is I’d accept anything north of 125k but don’t want to undersell myself and take a bigger cut than necessary coming from biglaw.

Has anyone been successful in negotiating a higher level at Facebook than originally interviewed for? Interviewed for program manager but would really feel more comfortable with a Senior PM title. Also interviewing at different FANG for a Senior PM role and was hoping to leverage if I get this offer. Any thoughts?

I’ve been seeing all of the Instagram and Linked In posts from agencies in town showing their “commitment to transparency in hiring” and to hire more minorities in light of the BLM movement. I knew the numbers were bad, but holy shit, not THAT bad.
It’s infuriating to me, as a POC how many fucking times I applied, emailed and reached out to so many of these agencies without getting even the time of day.
I’ll believe their supposed commitments, when I actually see the results.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Selfishly, I don’t want lock down to end. I’m enjoying not having to be in the office and the reduced pressure of a more low-key social life has been secretly quite nice. Anyone else?

I'm an IP Attorney for a global Fortune 500 company. I only focus on IP mainly patent prosecution, Right to Market searches, Patentability searches, Landscape Searches, advising the business on IP related agreements.
