So far so good but it’s only one week in - lol. Hoping for a stress-free year for everyone!
Same!
We're a few weeks in, and this has been a very stressful year already at my school. I'm trying to take plenty of time to decompress over the weekends, but that's not easy because I've been trying to squeeze in time with my family. It's a lot to balance. How are you doing?
Tired already and looking forward to every single weekend!!!
I have never written up so many kids. Technology violation, rude and disrespectful, uncooperative. Two I thought were going to hit me. Not a great year so far.
Almost 3 weeks in. The year is not looking too bad! I have a lovely class. They are eager to learn. I hope the year continues in that direction. Does anyone have any tips? Last year, my class was EXTREMELY hard, I don't want to go down that road again.
Establish your procedures and routines. Build positive relationships with your students and families. Strive for student enjoyment and engaging lessons.
My students have been great so far. I’m just overwhelmed by my workload this year. I’m mentally exhausted at the end of every day, and spend my Saturdays doing the work I couldn’t get to during the week. 8-9 hours worth 🥵
Yes, I’ve had to accomplish much work on the weekends for the past twenty-three years, as well. It does get easier, if teaching the same subjects, but many of us have taught three preps during the year.
Tired already, back hurt, feet hurt, and I go to bed before 10 pm
Back to school time! I'm feeling positive👍My students are eager to learn for the most part.
We are 3 weeks in and all seems okay.
This is week 2 for us and I have a lot of kids doing a lot of work. There are a few that need to pick up the pace, but they are a work in progress. So far, I am only over my class limit by 5 actual students, 10 on paper. We shall see how high that number climbs. I will not hide the fact that I am nervous about it. Last year, I started with about 15 on my roster before day 1 and ended the semester with a roster that had 23 extras on it. This year, my initial roster had 31 and it keeps growing.
progress report time; doing well in a new school just overwhelmed with new curriculum and grad school 🙂
Couldn't be happier. I have a great schedule, students, and I'm making bank. The stars have aligned!
Not great, it’s day 3. Students come back which makes me thrilled however I’ve been dealing with a difficult dept head who has been giving me the silent treatment since March and it’s been getting impossible to be able to do part of my job
I’ve already missed a day and a half for migraines and 3 days with vertigo. Typical start to every year for me.
I am a co teacher in science. I am the special ed teacher. This year with 3 co-taught classes we have 69 students and 67 of the either have IEPs or 504s. Only two with no accommodations. What a disaster. In all my years the most we have had per class is 10. Yes the rest are at risk , but tracking 67 students and we have to put in accommodations for each student for each assignment and quiz and test. Not happy. I have thus far 24 IEPs to do, 13 by December and our TC makes us redo all those who have Sept and Oct IEPs in April and May. That makes 6 more than the 11 already scheduled.
I have 40 special Ed students on my roster this year. The other two special Ed teachers have 38 and 35. And I teach algebra and early childhood education. It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m getting through it!
