This seems like a great response from the partners and sort of signals that you’re in a good spot. Work is going to be a grind, no doubt, but partners who recognize some of the negative consequences and try lightening the load as they can are the ones you want to stick around with.
A nice response, but the real test will be whether they extend grace for the time it actually takes to recover from burnout (it’s not just a couple of weeks), and how they respond when your hours are lower for the year.
The response surprised me. Guess we’ll see if anything changes…

Nothing is going to change lol. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice response and shows you’re valued, but the reality is that “lightening your load” necessarily means increasing someone else’s. That’s just the nature of the gig. Unless you’re able to delegate more, turn down more work, or go on a reduced schedule, how exactly do they plan on making your life easier/better?
I complain all the time that I never get this level of humanity from our partners even though they know my hours are grotesque for the year. Consider yourself (somewhat) lucky.
