Moving from ACN to PwC. 1yr w ACN to PwC EA3 Tech Advisory. 77k ACN -> 82k PwC. The bump was small on the switch but should I expect a raise (>10%) after 1st year with great performance?

OP it will not take you 4 to 5 to get in the 90s. As soon as you get your C promotion which should be 2-3 years out of undergrad you will get 90-100k at accenture.

like

@Op and Pwc3: I say all of this from experience. Came in with 1.5 years experience to an EA position with the recruiter saying "you will go up next year". Our recruiters have absolutely no say in your career here, so don't listen to them when they tell you that. Everything I said parroted my personal experience after having to take a second year before I could muster a strong enough case against my peers.

Either way, best of luck! I like working here, and I don't regret my decision. Just want you to have an honest appraisal of the process.

Not worth leaving imo. I'd only leave for a 20% jump and a title.

like

5k a year is like $125 a paycheck after taxes lol

like

^not true haha. Cohort model is standardized so pay structure is pretty visible. Only thing discretionary is bonuses. Your performance doesn't determine the base salary anymore

like

What are your now at ACN, senior analyst? Don't think that bump is worth leaving your network. But If you're coming in at A3 then you could get promo to SA1 after 1 year and base would be ~95-100k

like

Lol enjoy doing power points and being shit on because that's a step below.

like

@ACN 1 haha take it easy pal.. didn't mean to offend you lol I'm aware EA is not a Senior Associate, I'm saying that if I stayed at ACN, not even as a Senior Analyst yet, and have the option to jump the Senior Analyst position and go directly to Consultant, that's the equivalent of what I'll doing by making the switch.

like

I can tell you with complete confidence that it would take an act of God to get you promoted after your first year. You will be competing with other EAs that have an established network and coaches who are starting the PY (may 1) with the goal of going up for promotion. It will be hard to make a case over these people at year end. Additionally, getting a 1 after your first year is almost unheard of. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but overall the odds are it won't happen.

I would wait until you have more experience and can negotiate a title change before leaving.

like

@M1 on point OP! I joined last year as EA and guess what I am not getting promoted this year:) Get in writing or it's not going to happen!

like

M1 is right. Recruiter has no say on your career progression. Just one of the games that they play to knock you down a level... I would totally negotiate it.

like

I am interviewing too OP for a similar role how long the process take for you ?

like

Nice ! And after the last call how long did it take for them to gt bak to you ?

like

@PwC2 Analyst not SA

@op what's EA3? You mean coming in as a 3rd year associate? If so, it'sworth it because likely you will get promoted next year. I would get all this in writing though.

If you're an EA3, they expect you to make SA soon. So it could be worth the jump. Ask your coach what the bands are. PWC was supposed to have become more transparent. You can't be too close to the max. SA1 starts around 99. Source: former PDubs EA3

SA1 starts at 90 in low CoL cities. Aka Houston

@PwC 1 that's basically SA with 2 years experience. Yeah the role is only > 5k but if there's a possibility to make 95-100k after a year? That'd take 4 maybe 5 years at ACN versus only 1 more at PwC

And no EA is not even senior associate. They are bringing you in as "experienced associate" which is a title they were supposed to be doing away with.

Don't leave ACN for that toxic culture either you'll hate it. I came from there and they suck! Bonuses are non existent and don't expect a raise!!!

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
