What’s the “secret” to doing good work in transactional (specifically securities) law? Is it as simple as taking your time, looking up rules where necessary and going through the docs slowly/making comments as needed? I feel like I rush everything and when I see comments from counsel from the other side, I realize it’s not like I didn’t know most things, but rather if I had been more deliberate I would have caught them.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️
