Atlanta traffic is horrendous. If you are interested in quality of life, live near where you're going to be working.
School age kid or no? Schools will make a difference
I lived in townhomes behind Brookhaven MARTA. Very young couple friendly area and you can take Marta to the airport or to midtown if traffic is bad.
Welcome! If you are ok "outside the perimeter" then Smyrna/Vinings is a fantastic area. Cobb county has some of the lowest taxes and it has easy access to I-75 and 285. The new Braves stadium has helped pump energy into the area. Inside the perimeter, Brookhaven is extremely popular as is property along the Beltline.
Your age bracket might help suggest better for demographics but there are a lot of great spots for your budget.
Thanks for the great advice. 30, married, kid, senior manager. Open to Smyrna and Beltline. Do you like the new town homes that are coming up?
@IBM OP, how old is your kid? There are some good schools in Smyrna. Traton homes and John Wieland homes usually have nice builds. I'm not as familiar with the buildings along the beltline but it is uber trendy and up and coming. Lots of great spots. Only pain is in town traffic is horrific and the taxes are outrageous. The taxes in Cobb County are decent and great services for it. That's the Smyrna area - Cobb Co.
I have a baby so no big deal on schools yet and we are not looking to buy for the next couple of years. So to ensure we love ATL, I want a nice townhouse (JW style build) in a decent neighborhood like Smyrna, Sandy, or near beltline
I’ve heard great things about Cobb County
With that budget you can get a castle on Atlanta.
