Microsoft is where you go to sunset your career.
Starbucks is full of former frat boys and sorority girls.
REI has the hippy folks, but I don't know of anyone who worked on a non technical team.
Tableau is chill.
Zillow is over hyped.
Redfin is cool.
Facebook ain't bad.
I would check out Google and Slalom. G just opened up a massive building if they haven't already for building out Google cloud. And Slalom hq is there, with a fairly good culture (I'mn biased since I used to work there)
Again, I'll re iterate what the Microsoft employees have said - there are probably differences now compared to when my friends worked at these companies. Your experience is going to be very dependant on the team. Probably doesn't hurt to apply to just every company lol
Also I don’t get the Microsoft stereotype... why is it so bad to want to chill at work a little bit? 😂
Thanks!!
Boeing is also a really cool place to work, plus interesting products
Boeing is an awful place to work. Tons of bureaucracy and limited talent outside of aerospace engineering teams.
REI just laid off 25% of their corporate employees unfortunately, Redfin & Zillow also facing layoffs. I love love Tableaus culture but won’t fit sustainability. Amazon/AWS culture is extremely team dependent, but I believe there are teams working to reduce their footprint - will take a LOT to reduce that giant footprint though. There’s lots of startups and mid-sized companies doing sustainable-ish stuff here (depends on your definition). For example, I would say Convoy is doing sustainable stuff since they’re making it easier for truck drivers to find loads both ways ultimately cutting down on trips where they’re not carrying a load thereby reducing carbon footprint.
Try Costco. Laid back culture I heard
