I think there is always room to respectfully give your opinion, and if your client responds poorly, I'm not sure that's someone you would really want to work for. That being said, their opinion can differ from yours and at the end of the day, it is their project and should do your best to execute their vision or recommend someone else who might better align with the project.
I’d say respect the clients wants “look” wise if it doesn’t jeopardize safety or the structure of the project overall.
If it does then you need to work for a more understanding client and not have issues in the future.
