My manager was absolute trash. I posted about him before. Just incompetent, a micromanager etc.

Good news! My VP met with me and said “I heard you, and I appreciate you sticking it out but as of Friday he’s no longer your manager. I now report to someone else who is smart, capable and brings so much thought leadership to the table. I’m really pleased, but I also know I have to be at the top of my game because I have a lot of eyes on me being the only Black woman.
I’m grateful! Happy Friday!

That's wonderful news! You must have communicated it very well to get the desired result. Sounds like you are at the top of your game already, so keep it going!

💜💜💜 thank you so much sis! I appreciate you🫶🏾☺️

Huge congrats!! Can I ask how you approached your VP about this? I've been scared to do something similar so I would love to hear any tips you have or what worked for you! Congrats!

I would book meetings when he was not available and handle them myself, or ask for another AVP or VP with more expertise in a niche area to support me. Then I would rave about how excellent it was and how they brought out the best in me with their leadership style and wealth of knowledge.

That is such a great success! Very happy that it changed and you are with somebody that is actually competent! Good for you saying something, sticking up for yourself, this change is truly deserved and sending you all the well wishes with it!

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

I posted this somewhere else before I remembered that I am in this bowl :) so, I changed jobs 6-7 months ago and I am realizing it is not a good fit. Leadership seem to not want to hear the truth so people tell them what they want to hear and if you don’t middle management gets pissed at you. I am seriously thinking about looking somewhere else. My question is how do you answer the “why are you looking to leave” question without bad mouthing your current company?

Tier 2 MBA colleges and growth dilemma

At most companies your CTC is decided based on which tier your college is classified under. Most of the times even with a really high experience and stellar performance you won’t be able to match CTCs of freshers from Tier 1 colleges.

How do you solve for similar work profiles for Tier 1 and 2 grads but lower pays for Tier 2 grads?
