My paraplanner is wanting to get started with his CFP. It's been a while since anyone in my office has needed to go through a program. Looking for advice, what path should I suggest; Kaplan, Bryant University, Boston CFP, something else I don't know about? Looking for your ideas on what might be best to use as an educational source for the CFP these days?!? Thank you.

For doing the educational requirements I highly recommend going to an in-person program. I’m in the Bay Area of CA, so I did mine with the UC Berkeley extension program. I did it in about 18 months, but if I had to do it again I would prefer to leave it to the traditional two years, instead of rushing. It’s much better to interact with industry professionals and peers rather than being stuck behind a screen. Also provides some accountability - kinda like a workout buddy. Most CFP education programs do not include test prep. For test prep I did Kaplan and took the four-day crash course and 1800 practice questions. The exam is not a joke. It can also be very frustrating. Taking the Kaplan test prep was 100% worth it.

Passed in March using Kaplan. Thought the classes covered a lot of good material, instructor videos helped, and learned a lot. Review class brought it all home. I would recommend looking at it

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

As always, thank you all! 🐟

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?

TIA
