If she is already working with your firm - that is, I think you’re saying an offer has already been extended - then yes, I would reach out to your friend at the other firm. Adding someone to your team is an important decision, so I would utilize all the avenues available.
That said, I’m not completely clear on your goal. She already works for the firm and is on your team, so is the goal to understand her strengths and weaknesses better? Or if you find you don’t like her, will she be moved to a different team?
Or is your purpose just to smooth things over with your friend now that the deed is done?
Of course you should reach out if the relationship with the other lawyer is important to you. Associates are free to move and if you didn’t poach don’t let it seem like you did by not telling the lawyer at the firm the associate came from what happened. Then if you don’t it would just be awkward when you finally do talk with that other lawyer.
