Thoughts on Putnam?
Hi all, I'm a recent PhD graduate in neuroscience/regenerative medicine at the University of Cambridge. I'm looking to connect with someone Putnam Associates to chat about the firm and entry level positions for life sciences PhDs. I've heard great things about the firm and would really appreciate a few minutes of your time to introduce myself :).
Could someone here explain what big pharma levels I should be looking at for exit as as a newly minted director at pwc. Focused on manufacturing/ supply / ops. 6 YOE post MBA Looking strictly for big pharma exits ideally Eli Lilly and Company Roche Johnson & Johnson Takeda etc.
any guidance on how much RSU/ options I can expect or should negotiate for also helpful. TIA

Think SM seems low, and I'd guess you'd have a better shot going consulting -> AD than SM -> D
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Shame, too... I've worked with these guys for a while. Competitors hire ADs for this job.

Aligned with others that you can do better and get an AD at a smaller company likely. The better question is what is your EM comp and how does this compare. While titles are important if you are making more at this role then it’s always an upward trajectory in comp vs your current situation. If it’s a step back in comp then definitely apply more broadly and don’t rush your exit.
Echo C2 above. If you know you want to go to Pharma - start getting the YOE sooner than later but at least AD exit is ideal.
I’ve seen plenty of exits from MBB to pharma - until 1+ year at manager level, D is going to be tough. Im not sure how other consulting firms slot into this but I doubt they slot M -> pharma SD

What kind of role
Incentive comp
This comp is about equal to a fresh post-MBA consultant TC or 1-2 year post MBA TC in some firms.
My personal view below.
I think you can do better than that with 10 YoE and being an EM (assuming 2-3 years post MBA)
I have 5 YoE and top MBA and I would not leave my firm for a role below AD at this stage, unless the TC is too good to compensate for that (220-250k). If I had 10 YoE, I would not consider roles below D, but not sure how much of your 10 YoE is relevant (e.g. how much in consulting vs what was before it)
AD is realistic. D is a stretch.
It's a good comp for SM- Mine is a touch lower and lower sign on and that's where I am but I'm also 8 YOE. You could probably get AD but depends on experience. D is a real stretch and you'll probs be looking for a whileeee before a bite
What's wild is I just interviewed for a D role. Didn't end up getting it, but that's a hell of a sign of the market we're in!
AD is realistic but your comp isn’t bad for a SM. Maybe ask them to fast track to AD based on performance in the next 6 mo or so.
