Itâs important to get fit for clubs, so Iâd recommend âgiftingâ them that experience! Chat with a pro at a local course or pro-shop and explain the budget, so it can be taken care of when they go in.
PGA superstore or GolfGalaxy are good places to get fitted. Dicks Sporting goods has the service too but they are not as good as the 2 mentioned. I personally like TaylorMade for drivers and fairways. And then Callaway for irons. But you could stick to one name brand. Doesnât hurt
What is a pro-shop. Sorry Iâm a female fish with very little golf knowledge
OP - Iâm the wife of a serious golfer. If he is anything like my husband, he has a preference for what he likes and your trying to get the âbestâ is like threading the needle in the haystack.
This isnât to say itâs impossible but I would suggest the following:
1. Talk to his golf friends - see if there is something heâs been wanting to try or trends he wants to look at. Chances are if his friends have something he may have already tried their clubs and likes/dislikes different things. They can help clue you in.
2. If you can take pictures of the golf clubs in his bag (the heads and shafts) you can post some here and see if we can help or take them to a golf galaxy/pro shop at his local club where he plays.
The other option is a gift certificate for golf clubs so he can get what he wants. There are many ways to source golf clubs - including used ones - and theyâre not always returnable/refundable.
He plays about once every two months and goes to the driving range about 1-2 times per month.
Is she a good golfer and actually want really nice clubs/name brand or is she just starting up? Iâm guessing you want putter, irons, fairways, and driver. Or just set of irons?
*he is pretty good and I think would like a nice/name brand set
He has a pretty good set that he got fitted for but they need to be re-gripped. I thought about doing that but he has had those clubs for 10+ years so Iâd like to get him a new one.
Pro-shop is just a golf store run by PGA certified professionals. Do you live near a PGA superstore? Thatâs a great place to shop for golf equipment. Brands to look at are Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist,
Look up a local Miura fitter in your area. 2k will get him an amazing set of irons
