As for the leave, you just ask.
You're leaving.
They'll figure it out after you've moved on to a new firm.
Take the bereavement. A two weeks notice is a courtesy; sometimes just happen at awkward times. They will figure it out while you’re gone, you’re leaving anyways who cares if they’re busy
Focus on yourself and your loved one, especially not KPMG lol
Don’t ask - tell.
Bereavement isn’t something that needs anyones approval (there’s likely a policy that outlines this). Tell them the days you are taking and entitled to.
Sorry for your loss. Just explain you’ve had a death in the family and need X days for bereavement. One thing to note - most companies define which family members bereavement leave can be used for.
You don't owe any employer your mental health.
If you're just experienced a tough loss (and I'm sorry to hear about your loss) you don't have an absolute responsibility to shield your employer's productivity.
Definitely do what you can to make everyone as whole as possible, but if you had access to bereavement leave in the middle of your employment, you have a right to it at the end.
