Biglaw single parents? I’m a recently single parent. My ex is (almost) completely out of the picture now. Any other biglaw single parents with tips or tricks to making this work on my own?

I’m a single parent. It’s hard. I have a very good relationship with the caretakers at daycare who babysit for me. I also have a very good home office setup. I leave at 5 every day for daycare pickup, feed, play with and bathe my 18 month old, and then put her to bed. Once she’s asleep at around 7:15 I go online and work until I have to stop. Currently looking to go in house but I’ve been doing this about a year. Being fairly senior has helped as I can delegate before I leave the office and then look at what I’ve gotten back when I’m in front of the keyboard.

5wks pregnant and wondering — when did people tell their teams they were pregnant? I’m mindful that we’re “always on” during COVID, and I’m thinking about dr appts and what to do if/when morning sickness shows up, since I’m on zoom ~6hrs/day... but it’s also so painfully early. Would love to hear how other moms have handled! Did this allow you to create better boundaries for things like protecting your sleep and stress?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in advertising who isn't fiercely competitive. I just wanna make a decent living, work hard but not too hard, spend time with my husband and my kid, do some good work... Meanwhile everyone I know through work is constantly gunning for a promotion or moving on. It works for them, but it's not my game. Anyone else ever feel this way? I wanna find my people.

Now that my school is completely in-person, I’m noticing that the students who were online last year are pushing back on everything we do in school. Following the most basic of rules, directions, or fun is a struggle. I teach 8th grade, but I coach in the high school. I’m seeing it across the board. Is anyone else seeing this too? Is your school or district addressing it with any preventative measures social-emotional supports?

Coming here, to get the opinions of the professional working-class left (and maybe some moderate/-right) who frequent the bowl. I want to attend Xmas with my extended family. ie. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, cousins' father/mother-inlaws etc. So whole age group 0-65 I am in Florida, and they are in NJ. I do not want to wear a mask. I will be asking the hosts if that is OK. If they say no, I will not attend. If they say its fine I will. What is this audience's opinion on that?

🐠 who have kids late (maybe after 35?), are you worried that your teenage kids might be embarrassed by how old you are? Other moms/dads are in their 30s, nice looking and cool, but we are in our late 40s even 50s.

NYC parents with kids less than 3 YOE: SO and I are moving from a 1BD into a 2BD for more space. If we plan to have kids - what were some important criteria / nice to have that you looked for in a place? Our 1BD is close to 800 sq ft in Manhattan. Examples: Separate room for the kid (must have) Outdoor place (our current apt has a huge private park - is this useful for babies / small kids) Bathtub - heard it makes bath time easier Doorman / elevator (must have for us)

Moms in the group... do you really need your mum’s support postpartum if you already have support to help with food, cleaning, baby care, etc etc(in-laws are already here and I thought my parents could come in a few months after baby’s birth). Parents are making this an emotional thing saying stuff like “a girl definitely needs her mother after delivery,etc,etc.”. But I’m not sure I can host all 6 adults under the same room for a month! Too much drama!! Help!!

My baby just turned 12 months old last week but isn’t walking independently or talking. He says Mama but mostly when he’s crying for me and isn’t that consistent. He does babble with inflection and does seem to understand when I’m speaking. He walks fast with a push walker toy and will take steps when I hold his hand but doesn’t seem interested in standing independently or trying to let go of furniture and take steps. Is this in the range of “normal” or should I begin to worry?
