Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!
US peeps, what are you doing for thanksgiving?

If you are starting out avoid short term options ... shoot for 2 months or so. It takes time for your option to play out ... unless you use more sophisticated strategies like calendar spreads, diagonal spreads etc. to hedge your downside. Also, stick to long positions till you get a hang of the market and how Greeks impact the prices.
Time decay is more prevalent in the last 30 days of the option. First 60 days do not reflect much loss in time value. For in-the-money, it’s even less significant. Hence better to target 3 month options and close positions before entering last 30 days.
To my next paycheck
I look on Friday morning for that days expiration.
Realistically speaking 2 weeks to up to 2 months out with a 10-15% OTM option
