No system is perfect, what’s a flaw in your CTE ecosystem for your district/school/program?

Major flaw in TN especially in my school district. The CTE classes are used for a dumping ground. They put students in class to fill a gap in their schedule the whole time the students don’t want to be there

This is a major problem in our district as well. Students have 3 elective hours (seniors sometimes have as many as 6) and would elect to not fill them at all if given a choice.

A major lack of communication between district personnel, site admin, and CTE teachers. No one is on the same page and our programs and students really suffer. Planning, scheduling, resources, and funding issues create so much conflict that we can barely function at a time when our department should be thriving.

We don’t have a way to pay students in a quick and easy way for their experiences unless they do a mountain of payroll paperwork.

They pour all their money into one program every year for the last decade and I’m still dealing with outdated technology from 2009

Do you do you 5 year plan each year and also participate in skillsusa
In TN we have to do plans each year. If we don’t we are not funded
If we do not participate in student organization we are not funded

Same here… dumping ground bc counselors and admin have no idea what we do in CTE. I’m planning to hold a meeting with counselors to “school” them in our classes. I’ve also invited admin, let’s see if they attend.

Sigh. I was trying to be optimistic. But you’re absolutely right.

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Kinda bummed. I’ve been single for 6 years (I’m 31 now). I live in ptown and talk to guys in Boston on tinder. Was talking to a guy for about a week who is my type.
