No system is perfect, what’s a flaw in your CTE ecosystem for your district/school/program?

Major flaw in TN especially in my school district. The CTE classes are used for a dumping ground. They put students in class to fill a gap in their schedule the whole time the students don’t want to be there

This is a major problem in our district as well. Students have 3 elective hours (seniors sometimes have as many as 6) and would elect to not fill them at all if given a choice.

A major lack of communication between district personnel, site admin, and CTE teachers. No one is on the same page and our programs and students really suffer. Planning, scheduling, resources, and funding issues create so much conflict that we can barely function at a time when our department should be thriving.

We don’t have a way to pay students in a quick and easy way for their experiences unless they do a mountain of payroll paperwork.

They pour all their money into one program every year for the last decade and I’m still dealing with outdated technology from 2009

Do you do you 5 year plan each year and also participate in skillsusa
In TN we have to do plans each year. If we don’t we are not funded
If we do not participate in student organization we are not funded

Same here… dumping ground bc counselors and admin have no idea what we do in CTE. I’m planning to hold a meeting with counselors to “school” them in our classes. I’ve also invited admin, let’s see if they attend.

Sigh. I was trying to be optimistic. But you’re absolutely right.

How important is it to study the NFP and governmental accounting for FAR? I’ve gone through the Becker review for these topics and I know if I dedicate another week or two specifically to Governmental and NFP I can figure it out, I’m just not sure if it’s a good use of my limited studying time. Any thoughts?

Isn't it amusing when people complain how certain VCs have a lock on the "best deals" & superior "proprietary deal flow"? Wonder how that happened? Can't possibly be because of their network. Too bad the upfront cost of an MBA is a deterrent to making a shitton of money later.

Any opinions on Zack’s premium?

I really want to move out of my parents place for social reasons etc. I still hangout with friends a lot but it’s just a hassle having to drive a hour or so to kick it with them. So my dilemma is I enjoy saving $ on rent (yes I know can’t have both) but the main reason for me moving back home is so that I can save and buy a house. On the flip side with how expensive houses are right now it’s hard to even buy. I’m in CA btw SoCal. If anyone has any suggestion of places to live for a 26 YO TIA!

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Does anyone else feel like their eyelids get slightly swollen or hooded a day after Botox? This happened last time but not the day after and lasted for weeks! So I told her to use less (around 20 units on my forehead) this time. It’s not that bad, but I don’t want hooded lids...and it’s only a day later but I’m panicking!

Hey guys! I would greatly appreciate your feedback on this matter. I am currently a board certified hearing care practitioner- I handle all task of hearing screenings, programming of hearing aids and counseling patients into better hearing. I have secure multiple contracts and have even established being number one in outreach in the region and in the company. I have finally made the attempt to reach out to my boss and regional manager with no true answer of a rise or promotion into this role.
