A team dinner is different than a client dinner. If you're narrating the menu at a client dinner, you're the wrong person at the table. If its a team dinner without convo, you have bigger issues you're unaware of

I see what you mean, but I’m not sure I completely agree. Sometimes filling the silence is just about keeping the vibe light and making everyone feel at ease. It doesn’t always signal that someone’s out of place or that there are bigger problems.
I don't know that you really need to break the silence, do you? Lulls in conversation happen all the time, even when you're dining with friends or family. I never feel the need to spark it back up and think intentionally trying to do so just makes things more awkward. Give it a little time and more often than not it'll happen organically.

True, sometimes a little silence isn’t the worst thing, but I’m the kind of person who just can’t bear those "awkward" silences I have to do something to keep the conversation going.

I am so okay with letting the conversation die a bit, but that’s just my personality I guess. Sometimes there just needs to be time for eating

Totally get that! I wish I could be that chill, but I’m the opposite. I start panicking the moment it gets quiet and have to jump in to keep things flowing 😂
As a Brit, talking about the weather is a go to 🤣

😂 Love that! I feel like I always default to asking about travel plans or favorite restaurants nearby—it usually gets people talking (and adds to my own list!). Weather is definitely a solid Brit classic though 🤣
