One's manager has more impact on their mental health, than their therapist or doctor. Agree?.

Agree 200%. A toxic manager negatively affects one’s mental health and behaviors. A command and control kind of manager who is just interested in getting things done than empathizing on employees health is the main culprit.

A terrible manager can absolutely WRECK your mental health which will start to affect your physical health also!

I 10000% agree. I thing for the vast majority of us, our goal is to grow and learn and be so good at what we do that we inspire motivation on others plus the occasional pat on the back or a “good job” from the boss. When our manager does not align with our professionalism and way to conduct business, you end up spending a good chunk of time frustrated trying to figure out how or what to change for that alignment to occur. On the other hand when everything is great with our boss, we get constructive criticism, or amazing critics based on our good work, we get even more motivated to do better. So yes, I fully wholeheartedly agree with you.

Thanks. Great points!

Absolutely. And I have experienced this when changing managers. Doing the same job, my new manager gives me praise while my previous manager never thought it was enough. It was definitely contributing to my impostor syndrome. Then again, my previous manager would live and breathe their job and this new one focuses on work life balance and saying “no”

Well said

I absolutely agree. I think it's because they're around their manager more and must take direction and guidance from them on a regular basis. Whereas a therapist you may see like once or twice a week. Plus the boss is paying you, and you're paying the therapist.

Thanks for sharing👍

You spend more of your waking hours with your coworkers than you do with your family

I saw that quote somewhere too and sent it to my manager...lol

Sleeping tips??

Ever since Covid I’ve started having trouble sleeping because I dream of attacks happening in various locations (weird I know). Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?
