1) I’d have some type of cover or wrap for the stroller as they get thrown around sometimes.
2) Stickers, play dough, coloring books, LOTS of snacks. Not entertainment related but make sure you have chnages of clothes for both him and you easily accessible
Thank you!!
We don’t do an iPad either in daily life. But “Mom’s iPad” is a special item that my daughter only gets to use on 2+ hour travel (by car or plane). It plays curated, downloaded movie/show content only and has PokPok (a very low stimulation app).
At that age she was actually tired of the iPad after about an hour and the rest of the flight we read some books and sang songs (old Macdonald and farm animal sounds maybe a little too loud is still better than a toddler crying on a plane). She also liked the magic pen coloring books and random fidget toys (spinners, poppers, accordion tubes)
Thank you so much! Appreciate your reply.
Bring some kind of bag if you don't want the umbrella stroller to get damaged.. it will get banged up at gate check.
I would say iPad... But otherwise bring some coloring books, things that can keep him occupied
How long is the flight? I suggest headphones and some favorite videos.
I think I’m going to get some headphone for him for the iPad. It’s a trip to Hawaii from Chicago, with a layover on the way out 🫣
Squiggs are fun toys for the plane. As well as the travel magnetic block or travel magnetic magnatiles. The water pen coloring books, sticker books. A soft packable busy board. And then as many snacks as you can fit.
1) yes have a travel bag to protect your stroller. I purchased the ones I have on Amazon. When you check your bags, don’t include the stroller, you have to ask for a gate check tag at the counter by your gate.
2) I have 2 kids under 3 and they rarely play with stuff on plane. I honestly just pack an insane amount of snacks and let them have whatever they want in flight.
Seriously it works 😂. Plan on having a “yes day” when it comes to snacks and you’ll be fine. Also, maybe an extra outfit. My son spills water on himself regularly. lol.
I have nothing to add to the comments above except, good luck!!!
18 to 30 months or so is by far the most difficult age to take on a flight. Crying baby is much much easier than toddler that won’t sit still 😵💫. It’s a total wild card. Stuff that works on 1 flight won’t work at all on the next flight. Again, good luck!!
Thank you… it’s going to be hit or miss for sure. He just wants to be on the move all.the.time. 😅
Don't need a cover - we did the same, same age. Umbrella strollers are pretty chill. Recommend downloading episodes of buddi and Pocoyo on an old phone or tablet. Baby fireworks app is also a good age appropriate game.
In any case, make sure that you have enough for more than a four hour trip whatever you bring along. I've had too many weather diverts and delays while traveling to count. Also, make sure to check what you can bring past the security checkpoint. I saw someone mention playdough, but don't think that would be okay. As far as a way to keep your tot happy, heavy carb laden food. Fill their belly, and they'll probably take a long nap. Just be prepared for the descent too with popping ears.
