Ask about team morale, dynamics, what are their real days like. Interviewing is a 2-way road. What do you want to know about the people you’re working with. One of my fave questionsbis “tell me why I shouldn’t take this job/why I’d be a bad match” to get to answers like “unless you live being micromanaged you really won’t like it”, or “if you don’t live to live in ppt this isn’t for you”.
Why do you guys take your analyst to lunch? Don’t they have work?
If you’re asking questions for the sake of impressing them - which is the reason you started this post - you’re asking the wrong questions. Smart people smell bullshit from around the corner, a mile away.
Think about what you actually want to know, and ask genuine questions. That will impress them more than anything else.
@ATK1. I agree that being genuine is important. I don’t intend to act like a bullshitter to the two people closest to my age during the most informal part of this lengthy interview process. My post was to see if anyone had recommended Qs that help shed light on a company and team’s culture and WLB. Thanks.
Also, I am the one interviewing for the job. I may have not made that clear in the original post.
