There are a lot of good recruiters. Pick someone who has been in the industry for a long time and ideally hasn’t hopped around agencies. You get no brownie points for picking someone inexperienced, and someone inexperienced is more likely to screw up your recruiting process. Recruiting is a tough industry and very few incompetent or sleazy recruiters will last in the industry. We only make money if we consistently place attorneys every year and the job isn’t worth doing if you aren’t at minimum making $200K. If you pick someone with a lot of experience and limited job hopping, you’ll have much better odds of finding someone good, and likely will have filtered out many of the crap recruiters who gives us all a bad name.
I know you wanted advice from partners but that’s my 2 cents.
