Probably had my worst experience ever last evening, negotiating a salary. I've been bummed out since and it took me a whole night's sleep to even be able to talk about it. I was explaining my previous experience and how much I was able to contribute even outside my job description, which led me to ask for $4/h more than the offer. I literally got told I was being 'gluttonous' and was rejected my ask. It's not even the rejection, it's the word that's haunting me. What did I do to deserve that?

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior).
