That depends on the organization and the details of the particular positions. In some companies the titles don't hold a lot of meaning, in others they're pretty rigidly defined. Usually it's good to take on more responsibility, if you keep showing you can handle it you're on your way upward. If you avoid it you'll never be considered for advancement, that's just the way that goes.

Yeah I mean I've taken on roles before and they've been so I beneficial and gotten me no closer to the way up I think half the roles are just made up sometimes...

This hits hard because it happens so often. Internal promotions can quietly turn into more work with barely any real payoff. The title helps on a resume, but the burnout is real too. Sometimes protecting your peace is worth more than a line on paper. Which one feels more valuable to you right now, growth or sanity?

Title always helps in your next step. If you want to move up (maybe that is also out), you need that experience.
