If we are talking about DC it’s probably the same, but maybe more stress. Pwc is way kinder to their employees. Been in both.
Work life balance will probably be better at PwC. But yes, it’s a great move in terms of position, salary, prestige associated with the brand, if you have the skills to sell.
Advisory
Do you have your own clients and be able to sell atleast $2-3MM?
Way kinder? I'd argue the opposite. But you're a Consultant, so your experience will vary greatly with those at the Director level. Those joining PwC as an 'experienced hire' Director will have a very cut-throat experience, unless they're fortunate enough to join in an office or practice that may offer a rare exception. In NY it's purely sink or swim with minimal support. I'd be curious to hear the experience of those that joined Deloitte as a Sr Manager...
Going to be a challenge if you don’t come in with a strong network. Those metrics are hard to get in year 1 even for folks that grew up in the firm
Given that Deloitte is much more of a true up or out, it is a rather difficult transition from what I have heard
D1, just because pwc’s is tough for new experienced directors doesn’t mean it’s better in Deloitte lol. 🤦♂️ his question is for going to Deloitte anyway, not about going into pwc as a new one.
PwC is quite tough as well. The wlb can be pretty nonexistent. Can’t speak to Deloitte, but I imagine that at either firm you’re looking at a tough experience
which vertical? advisory or consulting?
Also @D1, it’s NY you’re basically talking bout a different country
Advisory is probably less rough than D consulting tbh. They almost operate more like risk assurance to some extent (at pwc). But it’s prob all the same shit at the end of the day at that level.
