Leaving the firm.who do i talk to take money out of 401k? What percentage will be taken of?
How much do you contribute to your 401k, IRA and/or HSA if you’re also paying off student loans? No company match in my personal situation so I’m debating where to prioritize funds? Loans are at 4% interest rate if that helps!
I’m 40 and curious what my allocation should be on *taxable* brokerage accounts (ie not 401k, IRA). Right now it’s about 15% bonds, 80% stock, 5% other. Curious if bonds are too high given the rate environment we’re in?
New job with no 401k match until you hit a year of employment. Health insurance is high deductible with an HSA. I am leaning towards starting an IRA and maxing out ($3600) the HSA befor contributing to the 401k. Does this make sense? Mid 20's, overweight but in the gym and no medical issues. No debt, ~$30k in brokerage mutual funds.
Out of curiosity, what happened to all the folks that panicked and cashed out their 401k in the middle of the pandemic?
Should I be maxing out my 401k before I even start thinking about opening a brokerage account or buying crypto?
As a person making $170k+ as a single filer what investments would be suggested beyond 401k, which is maxed. I believe I make too much for a Roth anything.
Thoughts on income level to switch from Roth to traditional 401k? Currently facing a marginal tax rate of 36.75% including state taxes. Feels like traditional is the better bet now.
Setting up our first small business 401k! Should we be an ERISA 3(38) advisor? What are the pros and cons?
Has anyone set up a uni-401k for themselves, and is a one man shop? Anything I need to think about? I'm thinking if setting one up and rolling my SEP into it
Just started a new full time job and was promised immediate 401k matching in writing, then when I went to set it up, was told I can’t actually have that benefit until after 1 year at the company...
How's YOUR 401K doing?
Are there any advantages in investing my (Vanguard) 401k in a Target Date Fund, over something like VTSAX? My brokerage account is invested mainly in VTSAX. (I'm a fan of "The Simple Path To Wealth"). My 401k is in the 2045 Target Date Fund. I just compared performance and VTSAX is stronger, with lower expense ratio. Given the expense ratio and performance, should I just buy into VTSAX and Bonds? Is there something *apart from the allocation rebalancing closer to retirement* that I'm missin
I'm starting a new job in a week. This job is a promotion and a hell of a raise from my current salary. It'll start off as a contract so I won't have all the benefits, but I will have health insurance, dental, and vision, and a 401k but with no company match. This is the first time in my life that I will be making a 6-figure salary. What is the one thing you wish someone would have told you when you started earning higher wages? What is your most important money management/savings tip?
I recently switched employers and have the opportunity to roll over my 401k to a 403b, both are managed by Fidelity. Should I complete the rollover or look at other IRA options? I have roughly 100k to rollover.
I come from a financially unaware family and am trying to save and break the curse. Hoping to buy a house in the near future and have no help - I'm not too smart on how retirement accounts work but have been contributing max to both Roth and 401k.. can I take money from one of those to help with a more sizable down payment or is that ill advised?
Leaving my first job - what do I do with 401K?
Canadians who worked in Canada but now live and work in USA — when you retire, will you receive social security/retirement benefits from Canada as well?
What's the main diff b/w '401k Before Tax Contrib' and '401k Roth Contrib'? Currently,in my employer sponsored 401k plan, there are no 401k Roth Contrib, wanted to understand how should I balance b/w the two?
I'm single M. Mid 30s and have been working since early 20s. 300k in investments ( including emergency fund) and another 200k in 401k retirement . Fully stressed out and thinking of taking a break for 2 years to decide what I want to do with life and some global travelling with points. Plan is to use 2k/mo for 24 months totalling 48k. Any other creative ways to coast for 2 years without losing much of what I have accumulated? Or anyone did something similar to this to share your experiences?
How many first year analysts here started as interns? What did you guys do to get those jobs?

Just "wolf whistled" instead of saying my name on a client call. My young female client took it as a compliment.
have two offers to move from consulting to industry. Currently an associate, offers for Manager & Analyst. If thinking long term about B-school, would the Manager role be significicantbetter on paper?
When a senior partner inserts a client’s son as an intern even though the interviewers unanimously rejected him. #consultingcronyism
Aaaand thats why I kept negotiating my employment contract to have an exit clause in case SPG gets acquired...#priorities
Managers that essentially do nothing all day but claim their "guidance" is crucial to the project.
Yikes. "Starwood said hackers were able to see debit and credit card information..." http://bigstory.ap.org/article/1a407af151984a509da82ea0bf4060f7/starwood-warns-data-breach-54-its-hotels
Just got promoted to Consultant after 2+ years, 9% base salary adjustment + 1.5% bonus. Does that sound right?
