Hi Fishes, I have received an offer from Barclays for AVP position. But the role discussed during interview was for Tech Delivery Manager whereas the offer letter mentions it as Tech Delivery Lead. Can you guys please suggest if it is the same role or should I request recruiter to get the role updated? Moreover it would be great if any of you can shed some light on the prospects/challenges of this role based on your experiences. Barclays Barclays global service center

It’s ok! Really. If it’s not a good fit, that happens all the time. I made a switch and also had a rough time, kept at it over a year and things still weren’t working so I made a change and that made all the difference. There’s a saying I’ll butcher completely, but it’s something like - if you ask a fish to climb a tree they won’t succeed but if you tell them to cross the ocean they’ll be successful. Everyone’s different and works better in different jobs, don’t fret. It could also be imposter syndrome, maybe check in with your boss regarding performance, and if it’s mutual it’s totally ok to find a new opportunity.
Unfortunately, due to personal / legal issues, I have to stay at least 2 years but I hate it (it’s been 1 month). There is my direct peer who is a dick to me and just me… and puts me down in front of everyone everyday
To clarify, i went from consulting to corp strat team in industry and it’s an industry i am not familiar with bc I was a generalist in consulting. My peers (all ex consultants) have had some exposure to this industry
Yes it’s the same. The entire team is ex-MBB so do it exactly the same…. 😭
Understood. I feel like if everyone can see them being a dick, karma will always get back at them somehow. Anyway, one idea is next time they put you down in front of people, maybe you can respond to them with something like “I think it would be helpful if we can set some time aside and you can show me (how you got to that, your files, etc.)“ then you have a chance to learn from them and also mention that you’d prefer they say things like that privately instead of in front of the team.
