This makes sense and how it used to be. Pool resources where the majority of work is based and leaders live (and travel constraints aren’t as impactful). This is how you set up new analysts for success in a relationship based business like ours. I think it got out of hand during covid WFH era and firms are beginning to rotate back and put some controls in place. It doesn’t benefit our practice or your own career to sit alone on an island in Phoenix behind a screen when your group is mostly based out of Chicago, does it?
So all major metro areas in the US? Are they reducing analyst roles or something ?
I see. Limiting options is not good, but I’m not sure if this has a massive impact unless they are also looking to cut analyst roles. I think those cities / metro area represent a vast majority of people

Bad move. Reducing employment mobility generally is a bad move that increases attrition of high performers that want different home office locations and increases travel costs for consulting. However, it may also be a smokescreen for layoffs / reduced hiring in HCOL locations, in which case it’s optics for right sizing that may be warranted.

What level are you? Agreed, but OP’s post is about analyst level positions (assume new joiners out of undergrad) that aren’t proven high performers yet. I agree that once you are at a recognized level where proximity to an office/relevant network every day is not as valuable (you have built your network and reputation) - mobility is definitely warranted if it doesn’t contradict your goals or responsibilities. But to get to this level, proximity and presence around others is an enabler for growth at any firm IMO. I don’t even work at PWC for the record.
This is not true… also we don’t have analysts, so not sure what you’re talking about.

Dang. My dream of relocating to Tulsa or Wichita is destroyed.
