They typically don’t give you the entire detailed packet of each plan they offer for each type of benefit. But they’ll tell you the important general things like they offer HSA or FSA and type of things they cover (medical, dental, etc), and maybe a gist of the different prices. However, since you have the offer, you can just ask the HR person or recruiter any questions you have about their benefit which they didn’t cover in your offer. It’s just a lot of information so the details are typically not part of the offer packet. But typically they’re more than happy to answer questions you may have on coverage.
Thanks for your reply. I sent a follow-up email as my main question is if I'm eligible during layoff since it's a seasonal position. I understand not getting full details but it would be nice to know if hsa or fsa is offered and if the company helps with a portion of the costs. I was just told very briefly that they have medical, dental, and vision during my interview. They didnt tell me if retirement plans are offered or anything else. My husband currently is only working part-time and doesn't get benefits so it's important for us to know we will have access to these.
It depends on the company. I usually don’t ask for the benefits info except 401k bc I’m single and health benefits aren’t too important for me now. However, I don’t see why they wouldn’t give you the info if you asked for it

Offer letters usually don't go into details about the insurance plan, etc. That information is given during your orientation/onboarding. And, the "for which you qualify" is likely because they use the same offer letter template for everyone, and different people have different eligibility based on their job.
If you are really bothered, contact the HR recruiter who sent you the offer letter to ask for details about the benefits. They usually have a PDF or website they can send you.
I don’t think we got ours right away to be honest.
As long as they're calling you a W2 employee and not a contractor, you should be getting benefits. The details will generally come later. Sometimes there are too many plans to choose from to put them all in a letter.
I would have asked for it earlier, tbh. That's a deciding factor for a lot of families. My current company has an open link in the signatures of all the recruiting and HR personnel. So I was able to see plans and even rx formulary way before I got the offer. A company should really be highlighting all the benefits to people they are wanting to hire on. It shouldn't be a secret.
If it's a factor in whether you will accept or not, definitely ask for the details.
