Work-life balance has become more of a priority for me. So for me, definitely worth it to leave big law for FAANG.
Seems like a win. I would ask your friend about work life balance at the in-house gig to see if it accomplishes your “balance” goals.
FWIW most in-house jobs are more like a 200k pay cut from big law. So your offer is a good one.
Echo other comments but think it boils down to what you ultimately want. If you think you have a chance at partnership and really want that, go for it. Don’t think 3 years would make you ineligible for FAANG. If you want out of big law, FAANG is a great option but you may reach apex early and look for other opportunities in a few years.
What is FAANG?
L1, if you shop on Amazon, browse on Google, use any Facebook platforms, you’re not better than a lowly corporate counsel at those companies.
Is work life balance actually better at FAANG? Wondering this as I’m evaluating 2022 goals haha
According to my friend there, it's not big law hours. Doesn't usually work weekends and actually gets to take vacation. Sometimes there are unreasonable deadlines that cause more work than usual here or there but generally WLB is much better according to one person FWIW.
