Question on switching from provider side to brand/client side…
I’ve been on the “solution provider side” to brands CPG/retail insights and innovation teams, largely in account management (sales) for B2B syndicated database/SaaS providers.
I’m looking to break into an insights/innovation-type role on the client side.
Any suggestions on addressing perceived experience gap because I’ve always been on the pricier side? Are industry certifications helpful on a CV?
Lots of questions, TIA!

Not sure if you’re still looking but you probably don’t have an experience gap, aside from maybe being able to stand up to executives who are wrong and maybe rounding out the skill set to me more than just whatever you’ve been doing specifically.
How many years of experience and what type of data have you been using? Syndicated could help you move into a category management role easier than primary, which could help you move into a more insights focused role.
Seek some advice from some of your clients. It’s likely that’s the type of role you’re looking for

See what you can do in your current role to provide recommendations and support for implementation of findings and take that as far as you can with clients you work with now to build experiences you can talk about with some client perspective in interviews for client side roles

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working as a contract TAS for 6 months in a medical device company. I started part time and as it became busier/my trainer quit, I became full-time. I applied for the TA position through corporate and would like some insight. the company is short staffed and my site specifically does not have good TA retention. For the salary expectation, I put in 85k which is in the range. I’m currently at 64k which is below the minimum of the range. Is this realistic?

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

I realized a slow pace at work is really bad for me. A couple years ago I was experiencing burn out from my fast paced job supporting transactions, and believed by moving to a slower job in a lower cost area, I would be sailing off to the sunset. Wrong, I spend weeks following up with other teams, often times they forgot what we discussed, so I spent 50% if the time reminding them of the topics and next steps. I spend most of my time writing memos no one will read.
